Should you draft Tyler Warren in 2026?

What the expected-points record, the coverage data and the market say he is worth at 50.3 overall.

Tyler Warren scored 188.5 fantasy points in 2025. The volume he earned was worth 203.4. That gap of 14.9 points is the single most important thing to understand before drafting him at 50.3 overall.

The week it changed

Rather than reading a season average, it is worth finding the point the season actually turned. Our shift detector flags in-season changes large enough to clear a statistical threshold, then asks what moved around them.

The largest single move was Week 13: receiving yards went down from 60.2 to 25.8, a 57.1% change, at 4.54 standard deviations. The cause was structural — the offence around him got worse at moving the ball. He also missed Week 11.

What actually happened in 2025

He finished 11.09 points per game on 112 targets, his first full season. Every part of that is real and none of it is in dispute.

What is worth separating is how much of it he earned. Expected points strip out the finishing and ask a narrower question: given the targets he drew, where they came from on the field, and how far downfield they travelled, what was that usage worth? For 2025 the answer was 203.4 points — 12 per game. He scored 14.9 FEWER than that, a 7.3% shortfall.

The expected line underneath the season was 80.8 catches for 840 yards and 6.4 touchdowns — and he came in under it.

The expected line was 80.8 catches for 840 yards and 6.4 touchdowns. He finished with 76, 817 and 4.

67% of the entire shortfall came from touchdowns alone. He hit 94% of his expected catches and 97% of his expected receiving yards — and 63% of his expected touchdowns.

That matters because touchdowns are the least repeatable part of a receiving line. Volume and yards reflect a role; touchdowns reflect a role plus a quarterback putting the ball where it can be caught in a nine-yard window. A player who holds his catches and yards while losing five touchdowns has not lost his job — he has lost the coin flips.

There were no spike weeks

Not one of his 17 games cleared 25 points. His best was 18.3 in Week 4. He wins with volume rather than with weeks that swing a matchup.

A steady floor has its own value in a lineup that needs one. 9 games came in under 10 points, including Week 3 against TEN (6.8) and Week 8 against TEN (9.3).

The three largest overshoots — Week 7 (+7.8), Week 4 (+7.4), Week 5 (+7.1) — are the same games. The spikes were not extra volume. They were finishing.

Not one of his 1 seasons is flagged as running hot. Across all 1 he has scored 14.9 points fewer than his usage was worth.

The reflexive read is regression. Finishing above expectation is unstable, and a player who does it repeatedly is usually one whose luck has not run out yet.

But an expected-points model has a specific blind spot, and it is worth naming: it converts usage at league-average rates. A target twenty yards downfield is worth what the average receiver does with a target twenty yards downfield. If a player is reliably better than average at winning a particular kind of target, he will beat the model every single year, and calling that luck is just mislabelling a skill.

So the question is not whether he beat the number. It is whether there is a mechanism.

There is a mechanism, and it is zone coverage

What he does against each coverage, 114 targets over four seasons. Cover 1 is single-high man — the look he sees most and punishes hardest. Cover 0 and Cover 6 are the two he cannot solve.

Across 114 targets and four seasons, he has been a fundamentally different receiver depending on what the defence played. Against man he has caught 58.1% for 6.42 yards per target and 0.024 expected points added per target. Against zone: 69.9%, 7.45 yards, 0.181 EPA.

That is a gap of -0.157 EPA per target on a sample of 31 man targets against 83 zone. The catch rate goes the other way — he catches more against zone — which is exactly what you would expect from a receiver whose value is in winning contested downfield throws rather than in finding soft spots underneath.

The shell detail sharpens it. Cover 3 is the look he has faced most: 30 targets, 10 yards per target, 0.324 EPA. That is his best number against his largest sample, which is the opposite of a fluke.

The weakness is specific. Against Cover 4 quarters he has caught 46.7% for 5.13 yards a target and -0.154 EPA across 15 looks — a gap of 0.5 expected points a target between his best coverage and his worst.

This does not prove the overshoot repeats. It does mean the pattern has a stated cause rather than being a coin that keeps landing heads.

The market has had him right, and he keeps missing

Across 30 graded prop lines, he has gone over 36.7% of the time. On receptions specifically the number is 33.3% across 15 lines, missing the posted number by an average of 2.8%.

That cuts against him. A book that has him beaten 67% of the time on his most-graded market is not a market being slow — it is a market that has him priced correctly and a player who keeps falling short of it.

Touchdowns are the control. His anytime-TD market implied a 34.1% rate and he converted at 33.3% — a gap of -0.8 points, which is noise.

So the risk is not efficiency. It is targets.

Indianapolis returns 5 of 6 continuity slots — qb1, rb1, te1, hc, oc — with Daniel Jones at quarterback, Shane Steichen as head coach and Jim Bob Cooter calling it. The offence projects to 32.49 pass attempts a game at high confidence.

The pie is stable. His slice is the question. Our share model has him at 19.1% against the 21.5% he ran, with a range of 16% to 23.5%.

That number is built from 25 comparable players — same age band, same prior share, same team, same coordinator — not from a depth chart. The closest three went Trey McBride 19.8% to 28.6%, Evan Engram 20.2% to 25.5%, Dalton Kincaid 17.7% to 18.6%. Two held, one fell hard.

The numbers that carry, and the ones that do not

Across 4,488 player-seasons we swept every stat for whether it predicts NEXT year's points, and kept only the ones that replicated in all five. target share (r 0.247), WOPR (r 0.218), air-yards share (r 0.142) carry. receiving EPA per game (r -0.127) and yards per target (r -0.114) and week-to-week volatility (r -0.075) run negative — a player who was hyper-efficient on low volume tends to come back down, so a gaudy per-touch number is a warning rather than a selling point.

So the figures worth weighing for him: a 21.5% target share, 14.7% of the air yards, a WOPR of 0.43, on the field for 83.8% of snaps. He averaged 3.49 yards of separation against 7 yards of cushion, and lost 0.16 yards after the catch above expectation. He finished 8 at the position — TE1.

The offence he plays in

Vegas sets an implied total for every team every week, and some offences beat theirs systematically. Over 102 games, IND has come in +1.21 points against its own implied total, clearing it in 55% of weeks.

That is a real structural tailwind. Every skill player in this offence gets a small, repeatable bonus the market prices late.

One related finding worth carrying: across 1,280 cases we measured what happens after a team's implied total slides, and the correlation is -0.37 — negative, meaning the market over-corrects. A falling team total is more often a buying window than a warning.

It is a step down from 2025, and the reason is volume rather than efficiency. The projection assumes he keeps doing what he does on slightly fewer looks.

What we have been saying about him

gets his own standalone tier specifically because of how wide his range of outcomes is. His rookie season took place on what was, before a season-ending injury, playing like the best team in the NFL; whether that offense returns to that level (versus the much worse level it played at leaning on a backup QB) is the entire swing factor, since his specific skill set (getting open off play-action and scheme design, not pure separation) is unusually dependent on the whole offense clicking around him.

Where to draft him

The books do not agree on him. . That 8.5-pick gap between ESPN and Underdog is the practical thing to act on: in a Underdog-priced room he is available later than his consensus number suggests.

He goes at 50.3 overall on consensus, and the books are far apart — 8.5 picks between cheapest and priciest, which is a real value window. He is latest on underdog and earliest on espn: sleeper 50.1, espn 47.1, yahoo 48.2, underdog 63.7, cbs 55.6.

At 50.3 you are paying a WR2 price for a player whose median outcome is a WR2 season with five weeks that win you the game outright and four that lose it. The bust rate of 28% is real and so is the 52% boom rate.

The call: fair value, not a discount. The reason to take him is the ceiling and the betting record. The reason to pass is that you are buying a profile that has beaten its expected output four years running and only needs to stop once.
