How this works
Redraft value is points over replacement, not projected points. A back projected for 240 is not worth twice a tight end projected for 120, because the tight end you would otherwise have started scores far less than the back you would otherwise have started. What a player is worth is the gap between him and the man who would take his place.
Replacement level moves with your settings. A 10-team league has a much better waiver wire than a 14-team league, so the same player is worth less in the smaller one. In superflex roughly twice as many quarterbacks start each week, so replacement at the position moves far deeper and elite quarterbacks gain real ground.
Why the best player in a deal is worth more than the math says. A starting lineup has a fixed number of slots and only one of them can hold your best player. So the side holding the trade-top earns a consolidation premium over the raw sum, scaled by how many real pieces come back the other way. Throw-ins worth under 15% of the stud still count toward their own side’s total, but they do not inflate the premium.
This is the same formula the dynasty calculator uses — the two tools agree on mechanics and differ only in currency, dynasty pricing market value and redraft pricing points over replacement.
What this does not know. Your roster, your record, your bye weeks and whether you are contending. A calculator prices players; it cannot price your situation. If you are 1-4 and need upside, the fair trade and the right trade are different things.
